Welcome to the first iteration of our bi-monthly interim newsletter, intended to provide context to the ever-changing world of Texas policy & politics.
With the 89th Legislative Session just over 4 months away, legislative committees are wrapping up their interim hearings and preparing their interim reports whilst returning lawmakers are drafting legislation and their own legislative priorities.
We have heard a lot about committee chairmanships over the last few legislative sessions and the issue was one of many brought to the forefront in recent primary elections. We decided to look into the partisan committee chairmanships and majorities of each committee going all the way back to the early 1990s.
