HB 85 mandates that the Texas Attorney General prosecute election-related criminal offenses if local prosecutors fail to act within six months of receiving a probable cause report. It modifies existing election law to give the Attorney General prosecutorial authority and allows for cooperation with local district attorneys if needed.
