HB 1974 proposes to render certain nondisclosure or confidentiality provisions unenforceable if they pertain to acts of sexual abuse committed against a child. The bill establishes that any provision in an agreement, including employment or settlement agreements, that prohibits or limits a party's ability to report such abuse to law enforcement or disclose related facts is void and unenforceable as against public policy. The bill applies retroactively to agreements made before, on, or after its effective date of September 1, 2025.
