HB 2383 increases penalties for individuals who commit a crime while wearing body armor. It requires courts to make an affirmative finding if a defendant used body armor during the commission of a crime, and mandates that the punishment be elevated to the next highest category of offense. For Class A misdemeanors, the minimum jail sentence is increased to 180 days.
