HB 2453 gives the Railroad Commission of Texas and the Public Utility Commission of Texas joint authority to address electrical power line maintenance issues at oil and gas well sites and related facilities. If an inspection reveals that an electrical power line serving a well or facility is not in compliance with National Electrical Code standards, the agencies may require the electric utility to disconnect power and direct corrective actions. The law applies to inspections occurring on or after September 1, 2025.
