Digest
HB 261 amends the Texas Insurance Code to mandate that certain health benefit plans provide coverage for medically necessary general anesthesia services associated with pediatric dental services. Specifically, this applies to children under 13 who are unable to undergo dental procedures without general anesthesia due to a documented physical, mental, or medical condition. The bill covers a range of health plans, including individual, group, and employer-sponsored plans. However, it does not require these plans to cover the actual dental procedures, only the anesthesia if deemed necessary. This Act applies to plans delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2026, and takes effect on September 1, 2025.
