Digest
HB 2696 mandates that all public elementary and secondary schools display a durable poster or framed copy of the Ten Commandments in a conspicuous place within each classroom. The poster must meet specific size and legibility requirements and contain only the text of the Ten Commandments. Schools are required to accept donated posters that meet the specified criteria, and they may, but are not required to, use district funds to purchase them. The bill does not allow for exemptions and is set to take effect in the 2025-2026 school year.
