HB 2711 establishes a work group under the Health and Human Services Commission to study the feasibility of implementing a statewide or regional acute psychiatric bed registry to track available inpatient mental health treatment beds. The work group will include representatives from healthcare organizations, mental health professionals, statisticians, and public health experts. The study will evaluate the impact of bed registries, assess hospital reimbursements in relation to bed availability, and make recommendations to improve public awareness and streamline data entry. A report summarizing the findings must be submitted to the legislature by September 1, 2026, and the work group will be abolished on September 1, 2027​.
