HB 2717 provides additional compensation to individuals who were wrongfully imprisoned and received compensation before September 1, 2009. It grants eligible individuals an equalizing payment based on what they would have received if they had been compensated under the revised formula enacted in 2009. To qualify, individuals must apply to the comptroller no later than September 1, 2028. The comptroller must issue payments within 30 days of determining eligibility. The provision expires on September 1, 2029.
