HB 2971 introduces an agreed divorce order process that allows courts to finalize divorces without requiring parties to testify or appear in person if they submit a written agreement. The agreement must include signatures, marriage details, property division, and, if applicable, provisions on child custody and support. Courts may adopt the agreement as the final divorce decree if it is deemed fair and in the best interest of any children involved. The law applies to pending and future divorce cases starting September 1, 2025.
