HB 3048 mandates that public school social studies curricula be updated to include instruction on the history of persons with disabilities and the disability rights movement in the United States. The State Board of Education must revise the essential knowledge and skills (TEKS) by March 1, 2026, to integrate these topics into the curriculum​.
