HB 3450 seeks to mandate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training for certain employees and volunteers in public and private schools, as well as open-enrollment charter schools. The bill requires school nurses, athletic staff, physical education instructors, marching band directors, and cheerleading coaches to obtain and maintain CPR and AED certification from recognized organizations. It also mandates that schools provide CPR and AED training opportunities to employees and volunteers. The bill applies beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
