HB 3564 requires the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to expand the racial and ethnic demographic data it collects and reports. It mandates more detailed subcategories for racial and ethnic groups, including distinctions such as African American, Ethiopian, Nigerian, Mexican, and Cuban. It also requires TEA to allow individuals to select multiple race or ethnicity categories when reporting data.
