HB 3624 mandates that public schools must excuse students for up to five days per school year for mental or behavioral health reasons. Schools cannot require a doctor’s note to justify these absences. If a student takes more than two mental health days, the school may refer them to a counselor or support staff for additional assistance. The bill ensures that these absences will not affect school funding calculations​.
