Digest
HB 4013 restructures the composition of the board of directors of certain appraisal districts in counties with populations of 75,000 or more. It requires that these districts be divided into four single-member districts, with one board member elected from each district and four others appointed by participating taxing units. The county assessor-collector will serve as an ex officio member. Board members must meet residency requirements, and vacancies in elected positions will be filled by board appointment. This restructuring takes effect on January 1, 2027, with elections for single-member district positions beginning in November 2026.
