HB 427 amends Subchapter I, Chapter 545 of the Transportation Code to allow pregnant drivers to use high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes, regardless of whether another passenger is present in the vehicle. The bill recognizes an unborn child as qualifying the driver to meet the occupancy requirements for HOV lane usage.
