HB 5286 requires the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to provide transportation for individuals released from residential correctional facilities on parole or mandatory supervision. It mandates that releasees be transported either to their prior residence (if in Texas) or to an appropriate transit point if they are relocating out of state. Counties that take on the responsibility of providing reintegration services for releasees without state-provided transportation are entitled to a $30,000 reimbursement per releasee​.
