HB 5290 requires the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to donate and transfer certain real estate properties to the University of Houston by December 31, 2025. The university may only use the properties for public-interest purposes, and if it violates this condition, ownership automatically reverts to TxDOT. The affected properties are located in Houston, Harris County, and include multiple tracts of land near Buffalo Bayou and Interstate 10.
