HB 5527 reforms the selection, terms, and removal process for appraisal district board members and appraisal review board members. It increases oversight authority of local administrative judges, allows for board member recall, and imposes eligibility restrictions to prevent conflicts of interest. Additionally, it limits political influence over the appointment of appraisal review board members and increases transparency in tax assessment disputes​.
