HJR 141 proposes a constitutional amendment to abolish the automatic resignation requirement for certain municipal, county, or district officeholders who become candidates for another office. It repeals Section 65, Article XVI, of the Texas Constitution, which currently requires certain elected officials to automatically resign if they seek another position before their term expires​.
