SB 1272 increases the penalty for attempted capital murder of a peace officer to a first-degree felony punishable by 25 to 99 years or life imprisonment. It also removes eligibility for parole or mandatory supervision for such offenders. The changes apply to offenses committed on or after September 1, 2025.
