Digest
SB 2328 prohibits the acceptance, funding, and recognition of identification documents knowingly issued to individuals unlawfully present in the United States. The bill requires the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to create and maintain a publicly accessible database listing any public or private entity that issues identification documents to such individuals. It also establishes a criminal offense (Class A misdemeanor) for government employees or businesses that accept these documents as valid proof of identity. Additionally, the bill bans state or local government funding for efforts that assist individuals in obtaining such identification.
