SB 2424 grants members of the Texas Legislature and the lieutenant governor access to certain governmental enforcement actions and closed meetings. It mandates that, upon request, a state agency must allow a legislator or the lieutenant governor to accompany an employee of the agency conducting an enforcement action. It also requires governmental bodies to permit legislators and the lieutenant governor to attend closed meetings if the request is made for a legislative purpose. However, attending legislators may only observe and not actively participate in the meeting. The bill is designed to enhance legislative oversight of executive branch activities.
