SB 2582 grants members of the State Board of Education (SBOE) compensation and reimbursement for expenses at the same level as members of the Texas Legislature. It also provides SBOE members with retirement benefits through the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS), placing them in the same elected class as legislators and certain state officials. The changes apply to service beginning September 1, 2025.
