SB 2648 updates the deer breeder identification system by requiring all breeder deer to be marked with electronic identification devices (e.g., microchips) instead of traditional ear tags. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will maintain a database of breeder deer identities to track their movement and ownership​.
