SB 405 places restrictions on political contributions from out-of-state contributors. It caps such contributions based on the office sought—$5,000 for statewide offices, $2,500 for district offices, and $1,000 for county offices. It also limits political committees' ability to donate if they receive more than 50% of their funds from out-of-state contributors during the preceding reporting period. Violations carry civil penalties up to three times the amount involved​.
