SB 56 amends the Education Code to include chronically absent students in the definition of "students at risk of dropping out of school." It requires school districts to collect and report data on chronic absenteeism disaggregated by demographic categories and provides guidelines for reporting through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS).
