HB 1358 restricts the purchase and adoption of instructional materials by public schools to exclude any materials deemed obscene, harmful, or rejected by the State Board of Education. It also mandates that funds for instructional materials cannot be used for such items. Schools are allowed to use local funds to purchase approved materials or open educational resources, provided they comply with these restrictions. The bill takes effect for the 2025–2026 school year​.
