The Texas House Committee on Higher Education will hold an interim hearing on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room E2.036 of the Texas Capitol.
The committee will examine the state of higher education in Texas, including enrollment trends, workforce demands, postsecondary outcomes, and institutional competitiveness. Lawmakers will also review implementation of legislation passed during the 89th Legislature, including Senate Bill 1786, Senate Bill 2231, and Senate Bill 2314.
The committee will also examine state investments in advising initiatives and opportunities to better align high school and college advising with postsecondary education and workforce needs. Invited and public testimony will be heard.
