HB 106 establishes a joint interim legislative committee to study the complete abolition of local ad valorem (property) taxes and their replacement with local sales and use taxes. If a constitutional amendment is approved by voters, ad valorem taxes would be prohibited beginning January 1, 2031. The committee’s report is due by December 1, 2026.
