HB 183 creates a full property tax exemption on the appraised value of a homestead for Texans aged 65+ who have held a homestead exemption for at least 10 years, and extends it to their surviving spouses aged 55+. Implementation is contingent on voter approval of a constitutional amendment in 2025.
