HJR 6 mandates that all political subdivisions (not just those opting in) must freeze the amount of ad valorem taxes imposed on residence homesteads of individuals who are 65 or older or disabled. The freeze applies while the person or their qualifying surviving spouse (55+ or disabled) owns and resides in the home. The amendment takes effect January 1, 2026.
