Interim Hearing | Broadband Development & Infrastructure

The Texas House Subcommittee on Telecommunications & Broadband will hold an interim hearing on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Room E2.014 of the Texas Capitol.
The subcommittee will examine the activities of the Broadband Development Office (BDO) and review awards made through the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program and the state Broadband Infrastructure Fund.
Lawmakers will also study pole attachments and other potential barriers to broadband deployment, including whether Texas should adopt standardized pricing or other mechanisms for pole attachment fees while accounting for infrastructure costs and electric system reliability.
The hearing will additionally examine the effectiveness of public-private partnerships for wireless first responder networks. Invited and public testimony will be heard.
