The Texas Senate Committee on Water, Agriculture & Rural Affairs will hold an interim hearing on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room E1.012 of the Texas Capitol.
The committee will examine water consumption associated with energy-intensive technologies, including data centers and high-consumption cooling technologies.
Senators will consider recommendations to improve transparency for local water providers and examine how Texas can accommodate industrial growth without compromising water affordability for residents and agricultural producers.
Invited and public testimony will be heard. Public testimony will be limited to two minutes per witness.
