Interim Hearing | Government Efficiency, AI & Data Privacy

The Texas House Committee on Delivery of Government Efficiency will hold an interim hearing on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room E2.012 of the Texas Capitol.
The committee will review implementation of legislation passed during the 89th Legislature involving the Texas Cyber Command, artificial intelligence (AI) generated data systems, and reforms governing state agency rulemaking and judicial deference to agency interpretations.
Lawmakers will also study methods for using technology, including AI, to detect fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer resources. The committee will examine implementation and effectiveness of the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act and whether the law adequately protects Texas residents and businesses.
The hearing will additionally include oversight of the Department of Information Resources, Sunset Advisory Commission, and Texas Space Commission, including opportunities to identify fraud, waste, and abuse. Invited and public testimony will be heard.
