The Texas House Committee on Transportation will hold an interim hearing on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in Room E2.012 of the Texas Capitol.
The committee will consider several interim charges covering transportation policy and agency oversight. Lawmakers will review implementation of legislation related to railroad grade separation projects and the Ship Channel Improvement Revolving Fund (SCIRF), examine non-domiciled commercial driver license (CDL) holders operating in Texas, and study legislative involvement in prioritizing Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) projects.
Additional charges include TxDOT communications surrounding construction projects, the economic impact and infrastructure needs of Texas ports, and potential changes to speed enforcement in work and school zones. The committee will also review the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles’ (TxDMV) statutory authority, duties, programs, and functions.
The hearing will include broader oversight of the TxDMV, TxDOT, and Texas Transportation Commission, including opportunities to identify fraud, waste, and abuse. Invited and public testimony will be heard.
