Rep. Cassandra Garcia Hernandez is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, first elected in 2025 to represent District 115 in northwest Dallas County, which includes parts of Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Farmers Branch, Irving, and Lewisville. She is an immigration attorney by profession.

Born in Hereford in the Texas Panhandle, Rep. Garcia Hernandez was raised by her grandparents in a small two-bedroom home in the farming community before moving to North Texas as a teenager to live with her mother and adopted father. She graduated high school early and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston on scholarship before returning to law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, where she discovered a passion for immigration law and worked on a clinic focused on combating human trafficking.
After law school, Rep. Garcia Hernandez established an immigration department at her family’s law firm and built a Dallas-based legal practice. She received the 2023 Pete Torres Jr. Community Service Award from the State Bar of Texas and was named one of the Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine. She also served as an Ethics Commissioner for the City of Dallas before entering elected office.
For the 89th Legislative Session, Speaker Dustin Burrows appointed Rep. Garcia Hernandez to the House Committee on Appropriations — with a seat on the Subcommittee on Articles VI, VII, & VIII — and to the House Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs, where she serves as Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee on State-Federal Relations.
