Interim Hearing | Supply Chains, Workforce & Child Care

The Texas House Committee on Trade, Workforce & Economic Development will hold an interim hearing on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Room E2.014 of the Texas Capitol.
The committee will examine strategies to strengthen and secure Texas supply chains across critical industries, including manufacturing, energy, technology, food and agriculture, health care, and logistics. Lawmakers will consider workforce availability, infrastructure capacity, domestic production, supplier concentration, transportation and logistics, disaster preparedness, and the resilience of state-supported economic development programs.
The committee will also study fraud prevention and accountability across workforce and economic development programs, including opportunities to strengthen program integrity while maintaining access to services. Another charge will examine the accessibility, affordability, quality, and coordination of child care and early childhood systems and their effects on workforce participation and employer productivity.
Lawmakers will additionally review implementation of legislation from the 89th Legislature and conduct oversight of the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office, and Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
