HB 31 would require that individuals appointed to or serving in public office or on state or local advisory boards and task forces be U.S. citizens. It applies to all three branches of government and to political subdivisions, with exceptions only for positions whose qualifications are defined by federal or state constitutions. Non-citizens holding such positions would see their terms end unless they become citizens before the law takes effect.
