HB 52 would separate federal elections from state and local elections in Texas. It creates a new subtitle in the Election Code with procedures for conducting stand-alone federal elections, including distinct ballots and registration systems. Though federal and state elections could still occur on the same day, they would be administered separately to the extent practicable.
