HB 79 extends the standard notice to vacate before initiating an eviction from three days to 14 days for most tenants. A three-day notice remains permissible only when the landlord terminates the lease due to certain violations under Section 91.003 of the Property Code. The change is intended to provide tenants with more time to respond before facing eviction proceedings.
