Digest
HB 1541 establishes an advisory committee focused on services for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The committee is tasked with identifying gaps in access to acute and long-term care services and providing recommendations to address these gaps. It will consist of diverse stakeholders, including representatives from healthcare organizations, advocacy groups, individuals with disabilities, and family members. The committee will meet quarterly, supported by existing resources, and will evaluate funding adequacy, service models, workforce capacity, and service quality. It will also identify best practices, assess mental health impacts, and review public safety net services. A report summarizing findings and recommendations will be submitted to the legislature biennially, with a final report on the committee’s continuation or abolition by December 1, 2028. The advisory committee will be dissolved by September 1, 2029, unless continued.
