HB 1770 amends the Education Code to provide for an annual inflation-based adjustment to the basic allotment under the Foundation School Program, starting with the 2026-2027 school year. The adjustment will increase the allotment by the lesser of 3% or the inflation rate based on the Consumer Price Index, with a provision that the inflation rate cannot be negative. The legislature retains the option to set a lower adjustment in the General Appropriations Act, provided it does not fall below the original amount.
