HB 1944 adds a provision to the Election Code granting immunity to peace officers and prosecutors engaged in official investigations or prosecutions of election law violations. It specifies that their conduct is exempt from offenses under the code if it is authorized by their law enforcement agency and conducted in furtherance of an official investigation.
