Digest
HB 208 amends the Health and Safety Code to require healthcare providers to offer patients an itemized bill for healthcare services and supplies. The bill specifies that providers can issue the itemized bill electronically (including through a patient portal), by hard copy through mail or common carrier, or as a physical copy that patients can pick up at the provider’s place of business. Patients are entitled to request this itemized bill at any time following its initial issuance and can choose the preferred delivery method for receiving it. HB 208 is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
