HB 2171 mandates that public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools adopt policies requiring the Texas state song, "Texas, Our Texas," to be played before all school-sponsored athletic events held on school campuses or facilities. The state song must follow the playing of the national anthem. The requirement applies beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.
