Digest
HB 2250 amends the Penal Code to expand the definition of "child" in firearm storage laws from under 17 to under 18 years of age and revises the legal definition of "secure" storage. It requires firearms to be stored unloaded in a locked container or rendered inoperable by a trigger lock. The bill removes the previous provision allowing children to access firearms for self-defense and increases liability for gun owners who fail to properly secure firearms.
