HB 241 amends Section 657.002 of the Texas Government Code to expand state employment preferences to include individuals who reside in a household with a veteran who has a disability. To qualify, the individual must be the primary source of income for the household, and the veteran must have a 100% disability rating or be deemed unemployable and receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits. This bill extends existing military employment preferences within state agencies, applying only to job openings advertised on or after September 1, 2025​.
