HB 2420 requires public institutions of higher education to designate a Title VI Coordinator to oversee compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs receiving federal funding. Each Title VI Coordinator must promote equal access, investigate complaints, maintain records, and conduct training on Title VI compliance. The law applies beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year.
