HB 2424 updates the acceptable forms of photo identification for voting in Texas. The bill removes certain expired driver’s licenses from the list of valid voter IDs and clarifies that driver’s licenses issued under medical hardship or other special conditions do not qualify. However, it maintains that a Texas driver’s license, personal ID card, U.S. military ID, passport, or handgun license remains valid for voting if it expired no earlier than four years before the date of presentation.
